How bizarre is this?  Baile Chino “(Chinese Dance”) featuring Dakota Indians (well, Chilenos in Indian garb) and Joseph carrying Jesus before Our Lady of the somethingorother in Pisco Elqui, Chile.

    This has always seemed so strange to me, but it is very much a part of the religious dance culture here. Each group wears costumes in accordance with an identity they have chosen. for some reason, there is much fixation on “pielesrojas” (redskins), which many Chileans refer to as Sioux (and pronounce seeUUX).
